Press Release

Dec. 8th, 2009 – The Heart of Santa Fe, double CD compilation.

Santa Fe, New Mexico. On Thursday, December 10, 2009, Warehouse 21, Santa Fe Teen Arts Center will be hosting a CD Release Press Conference on a new musical collection entitled “The Heart of Santa Fe” featuring established musicians from Santa Fe.  Special guests will include First Lady Barbara Richardson and Mayor David Coss.  The Day will be proclaimed as the Heart of Santa Fe Day by Mayor Coss.

The press conference will be held at Warehouse 21, 1614 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 87501. The time is from 11am-12pm. The press and community are invited.

Since June 28, 2009, following the loss of four of Santa Fe’s teenagers in a fatal car accident on Old Las Vegas Highway, our music community has come together to mourn and honor the lives of Rose Simmons, Julian Martinez, Kate Klein, and Alyssa Trouw, and also to support Avree Koffman, the only teen to have survived the accident.

Renowned musicians David Manzanares and Chris McCarty initiated a musical movement by writing a song “Anything To See Them Again” that was produced at Stepbridge Studios as a tribute to the teenagers. Other notable Santa Fe-based artists involved in this recording include Ramon Bermudez, Lydia Clark, Mark Clark, Jack Clift, Susan Holmes, Pat Malone, Busy McCarroll and Jeff Nelson. Edgard Rivera and Andrew Click, producers and owners of Stepbridge Studios, also donated the use of the studio and engineered the first record.

Since then, some of Santa Fe’s finest musicians, singers and composers have contributed songs that will comprise a twenty eight song, double album set called “The Heart of Santa Fe.” The combination of musical styles that range from Latin, Rock, Folk, Blues and Jazz truly represents our eclectic and wonderfully diverse professional musical community.

CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, the sponsor of this dual CD states: “With our St. Vincent Hospital Foundation, we have sponsored this CD because of its heartfelt tribute, and because the profits benefit the families as well as treatment, education and prevention efforts. Let’s help each other never start the bad habits and dependencies our society has encouraged for so long. And let’s help people showing early signs of binge drinking, self-medicating and recreational drug use from moving toward the slippery slope of dependency, so that we can all live fearlessly.”

DWI’s are a societal problem and St. Vincent Hospital Foundation and its community outreach program are the initial    partners for creating awareness of this community health issue through Prevention,  Education, Music, Technology and the Arts.

Proceeds from the sales of this extraordinary CD will support W21’s Music and Media Arts Programs and will provide interns the unique experience of working with music industry professionals while learning the business enterprise skills of music production, publishing, sales, licensing, record orders and distribution. Further, the program includes a youth-driven Media Literacy awareness campaign about the issues surrounding drinking and driving. These programs will offer scholarships through a special tribute to Rose, Julian, Kate, Alyssa and Avree.
